The World Association for Person Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy & Counseling is pleased to announce a mini conference in Melbourne, 2019

                   EMOTIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PERSON CENTRED APPROACH

  • Provides a worldwide forum for practitioners and scholars working within the person-centred and the experiential paradigms.

  • Fosters the exchange of research, theory and practice across language groups and cultures.

  • Supports and encourages scientific study as well as improvement of practice in the field of psychotherapy and counselling.

  • Promotes person centred and experiential perspectives.

  • Stimulates cooperation and dialogue with other psychotherapeutic orientations.

 

As a way of creating some enthusiasm for the PCE2020 Conference in New Zealand a group of us decided that we should run a conference in Melbourne. We welcome you to attend a two-day conference at the ACAP Melbourne campus at Lonsdale Street.

Meet the team 

Dr Melissa Harte

​

Dr Melissa Harte is a Counselling Psychologist who supports and assists people to improve their lives. She is passionate about the Person-Centred approach and wanted to be involved in running this mini conference as a way of bringing more attention to Person-Centred principles in Australia and surrounding countries. Her diverse range of services includes; face-to-face counselling, training, supervision and professional development within an Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) framework. She is an Internationally Accredited Trainer in EFT with the ISEFT and the Training and Program Director of the newly formed Australian Institute for Emotion Focused Therapy (AIEFT).  

 

Professor Denis O’Hara

​

IDr Denis O’Hara is Professor of Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Australian College of Applied Psychology, Director of the Hope Research and Practice Institute and Adjunct Professor at Griffith University and the University of the Sunshine coast.  Professor O’Hara is a chartered psychologist with the British Psychological Society, register member of the Psychotherapist and Counsellors Federation of Australia. He has taught in a number of universities and colleges both in Australia and overseas across faculties of education, psychology, and counselling. He enjoys research and writing and is a published author with an extensive list of publications. His most recent book is entitled “Hope in Counselling and Psychotherapy”. Some of his research interests include hope studies, psychotherapy integration, self-differentiation, chronic problems of the self, and wellbeing.

 

Fiona Baillie

​

Lives in Hobart, Tasmania and has worked as a Counsellor and Mediator in the not-for-profit sector for over 25 years.Her work is fundamentally person-centred and a colleague has said that she is saving the world one client at a time!  She strongly supports professional colleagiality and professional development through her involvement in the Tasmanian Branch of PACFA and the PACFA College of Relationship Counsellors. She is enthusiastic about this conference and raising the profile of Person-Centred therapy in Australia. 

 

Vivienne Wisniewski

Vivienne is an Educational & Developmental Psychologist working in Private Practice in Melbourne. Vivienne’s work is driven by the belief that her role is to assist clients to gain the skills that will empower them to understand and manage their emotions, challenges and relationships, as well as celebrate their achievements and blessings - client centred and focused on her clients’ needs.

Vivienne has attended 2 PCE conferences - New York 2016 and Vienna in 2018.

 

Ishrat Sidtdique

​

Ishrat is the behind the screen support for PCE2019MELB. She is the Campus Manager of Institute for Emotionally Focussed Therapy. Ishrat has  worked at the Australian College for Applied psychology for over 7 years, where she specialised in blended and online learning and teaching. Ishrat has a strong passion for e-learning
